The Digital Copywriter will be tasked with delivering copy of exceptional quality for eCommerce and related digital channels with an acute awareness for writing in a digital context and an understanding of web design, user experience, SEO, customer journeys, and translation processes. They will have the ability to implement strategic thinking across appropriate platforms, and set in place patterns and practices that can be adapted by a global team.
Continued expansion sees this business operating in 22 countries; with more than 320 retail stores; and transacting in 21 currencies. The internal digital team is over 35 people and growing; utilising a modern technology stack and striving for absolute best practice in all they do.
The primary focus of the role is to create customer-centric content that supports customers’ research and decision-making journeys. Working in a highly collaborative setting, this role will frequently liaise with Digital Product Managers, Producers, Search specialists, Developers, Marketing and Creative team members, including staff in offices overseas.
As part of your role, you will:
Craft engaging UI and microcopy to help customers navigate products and services, ensuring they get the most out of their online experience.
Be able to express how a single line of micro-copy relates to a larger experience, and how to create patterns and processes for that copy to be adapted to suit non-English markets serving customers worldwide.
Support a broad range of digital initiatives and interactive experiences including, but not limited to - interface and feature development, landing pages, Live Chat, SEO, SEM, emails, videos and digital applications.
Plan and run copy-based tests and optimisations, with a view to constantly improve conversion and ease of use on key digital customer journeys.
Ongoing maintenance of digital copy guidelines as required.
Regularly review live digital properties ensuring the quality and integrity of copy.
Elevate digital presence, translating a strong and consistent brand aesthetic—both globally and regionally—to work optimally within a digital context.
Having the ability to balance creative and conceptual thinking with sensitivity to broader business strategies and customer needs.
Pair with the User Experience Designer to facilitate user testing to help validate decisions and inform proposed changes.
Write and proofread digital copy of the highest quality, working closely with stakeholders and collaborators across multiple teams. Seeking out requisite approvals as required.
We anticipate you have:
At least an undergraduate degree (and preferably postgraduate studies or qualifications) with a major in one or more of the following fields: advertising, literary studies, creative writing, journalism, cultural studies, media studies, copywriting.
3+ years copywriting experience either within an online retail business or digital agency.
Sound knowledge of eCommerce and digital marketing best practice.
A demonstrated understanding of the brand; tone, lexicon and style.
Knowledge of user experience design, web design, and eCommerce.
Clear understanding of the fundamentals of SEO.
The ability to tailor communications to meet the needs of various audiences, across digital platforms, without compromising voice or spirit.
Knowledge of A/B testing, user research, and conversion optimisation methodologies.
